Last night saw Salisbury BC Cyclones visit Laverstock (A) in the Salisbury & District league.
We expected it to be a tough night, but we were beaten 17-1 at the end of the evenings play.
There were some close battles that just didn’t go our way, but to be fair, Laverstock (A) were strong and deserved a good victory.
Cyclones fielded two substitute players; Megan Stigling and Jack Crassweller – they didn’t let us down with very strong performances on the night, and gave a very good account of themselves.
Joanna Gordon (C)
That means that so far, the Cyclones have played two, won one and lost one.
Another great night for the Salisbury BC Zephyrs last night with a win over the Civil Service.
The Zephyrs beat Civil Service 11 to 7.
Salisbury Zephyrs team;
That’s two wins out of two!
Keep going Zephyrs!
Today’s blog is dedicated to the Salisbury & District Veterans O40s team that secured the trophy for 2013 today.
Five Salisbury Badminton Club Players represented Salisbury & District in today’s tournament;
The tournament started at 12 midday in Melksham at the Christie Miller Sports Centre.
A long day, with all involved playing 8 games of level doubles and 4 games of mixed doubles.
Well done to all those who represented Salisbury & District, and a special well done to the Salisbury BC players (well this is our blog after all!)
Last night saw the first two matches for Salisbury Badminton Club for this season.
I am very pleased to report that both matches resulted in wins for the Salisbury teams.
Salisbury Cyclones Team;
The Cyclones secured a great win, 14 games to 4 against Laverstock (B).
There is a special mention for Megan who made her debut playing for Salisbury BC Cyclones last night after securing her place in the Cyclones this year after impressing the selection committee during the previous season.
Megan proved the selection committee right with a great first match performance.
Salisbury Zephyrs Team;
Martin De Feu
Salisbury BC entered the Zephyrs team this year to give the younger players an opportunity to play league matches and gain more experience of competitive badminton.
It’s hoped that some of these players will continue to develop their talent for badminton and eventually become the Hurricane and Cyclone team players of the future.
The Zephyrs secured a great win against Laverstock (C), with a final score of 15-3.
Well done to both the Cyclones and Zephyrs!
The season is off to a great start.
Well two club nights into the first season and I think we are all getting over the summer break – A few of us (probably just me) are starting to get back into the swing of playing again after a relaxing summer.
I received great news this morning from Richard Haime – Kathy has given birth to Jack Philip Haime at 17:47 on Sunday 22nd September.
All at Salisbury BC send our congratulations to you both!
Please note that club nights have been rearranged for Wednesday evenings and will take place at Godolphin School (www.godolphin.org).
The first club night will be next Wednesday (11th September 2013) – 8pm until 10pm
Let me know if you have any questions.
Bye for now
Good morning all,
SBC has been advised that the Sarum Academy sports hall will not be ready until early November due to the fact that the building work has not been completed.
The SBC committee will be meeting on the 5th September to discuss alternative arrangements for the club nights.
It is likely that SBC will move its club nights to Wednesday evenings up until November when the Sarum Academy is ready.
Therefore, please note that there will be no club night on the 12th September, but we are hoping to book Godolphin School sports hall (which is the location used for SBC match nights) – Possible first club night could be next Wednesday on the 11th September, but further advice will follow.
